Earth From My Bed

Moonlight sifted across the land
On the silver mirror in my hand
And showed me a world in red
Where a hundred ants slowly tread
And a marching band sang a song
The Duke thought ’twas too long
And tired he looked to the sky
Where a lonely dragon did fly
Into a rainbow in black and white
Prancing pony in a field of light
Where a mother scolded her child
Who sung his woe in a tune mild
And two sparrows came and sat
The girl shy, her eyelids did bat
Dust covered the mirror I held
And I saw Earth from my bed.

Inspired by the songwriting in Porcupine Tree’s Nine Cats by Steven Wilson. The idea is of a free flowing concept wherein there is no set meaning on the surface but a continuous narration shifting from one plane to the other.
