Sonnet V

Let me soak myself in the pouring rain,
For I cannot tell the night from morn,
For I am soul-drenched in Poesy’s pain,
So let the clouds with time’s beads adorn
My dusky forehead’s flickering beacon
My quivering palm’s misty resolve
My urn’s sodden stone’s isolation
And thus my ink in time dissolve;
So let me walk into the stormy sea
And face Poseidon’s raging might
I am no more to be swept by inclemency
No more to be acrimoniously smite –
Walk into my tears of time, my quest,
So I may script my grave and so rest.
