A blot on a paper does not rest at a spot. It spreads slowly buy surely, arching one leg forward followed by another and another; it seems to never stop unless it dries. By that time, it has left an impression. The blot remains for as long as the paper exists. Words are nothing but disciplined sets of blots, drawn with intent and a trained hand. They do not just represent the guile of a human being, they decry her/his feelings, the soul flows on the paper. It would be apt to continue with that as the preset for the text, however, such dreamy writing constitutes the cream of the crop of words. I presume, in the modern world, the most number of words written on a paper pertain to business or legal matters. Whereas one demonstrates our power and ambition, the other reveals our insecurities and failures. The words keep flowing until the intent of the matter is conveyed to the full. Naturally, such vital documents carry with the burden of aesthetics and foolproof neatness on the paper, but the world is hardly ever perfect. To that effect, there might be a blot or two that travel with it; maybe an inopportune drop of ink, or a printer malfunction, wherein the page was in such a hurry to deliver that sheet of paper that s/he simply decided to leave it on. People lose their jobs on such matters. Please be careful, dear reader.

The blot is often much more than a blot. The written word carries a power that is still a mystique to us. Speech can be forgotten, speech can be forgiven, speech can occur without thought, but the written word is calculated and shrewd; each word on paper connects the dots to a puzzle. We are smart enough to never be vulnerable on paper. That can only happen in letters. That is why I enjoy writing them to my friends. Even a blot on such a paper carries a special meaning. The inopportune drop of ink is now a signature of the sender’s candor; intimacy spreads through mistakes, after all. So, let the blot travel as far as possible. Pages will get messy, words will struggle to form themselves, even the ink itself may get washed away, and that is the essence of romance. Learn and love everyday.
