Lore of the Bosmer: Olpac’s Song

O pale luminescence!

Floating orb incandescent!

Show us a sight tonight

So we for centuries might

Sing aloud for centuries long

And dance to a glory song!

Through a moonlit valley I trudged

A trace of skooma on my shirt

Parting aside noctural grasses tall

To introduce thee to my tale, that’s all.

Did I see a deer, or hear?

Did I see a skeever in fear?

For far away upon Angmar’s Stone

Along yonder rocky roads there shone

For a second in the vivid moonlight

A warrior’s armor crafted from ebonite

And just as ’twas ‘fore my eyes laid

Disappeared as swiftly as displayed

But hold!

Did I see another deer, or hear?

Did I see a bear to be feared?

For now the night not be a virgin

For now a tale be told, a gin?

O pale luminescence!

Floating orb incandescent!

Show us a sight tonight

So we for centuries might

Sing aloud for centuries long

And dance to a glory song!

Behind the trees of White Wolf Hill

I hid filled with impending thrill

Pellucid vison of Angmar’s Stone

Neither hunter not hunted were alone

As I had seen the rising soot

From the garrison of Elden Root

From a Khajiit I came to know

Not all within fell to the fiendish blow

There lived a Bosmer brave

There lived a Bosmer sly

To the Thalmor not a slave

Only to his kin an ally

From the Khajiit I spoke of last

Did slip me one more tale fast

Of the Altmer that swore revenge

His kins he seeked to avenge

And so did the Bosmer pledge he told

Undo the sorrow of Elden Root Hold.

O pale luminescence!

Floating orb incandescent!

Show us a sight tonight

So we for centuries might

Sing aloud for centuries long

And dance to a glory song!

And now the stage for battle lay

Far away from horses and hay

The moon bade a swift goodbye

And hid Angmar’s Rock from my eyes

So like vile Falmer who be blind

I let a spell unwind

Took me sailing across the wind

My ears began to sing

Through the  wind I heard a swoosh!

And the shadow of an archer sly

Through the wind I heard a swoosh!

A poisoned arrow into the Altmer’s hide.

And then flash after flash did fly

By the serene night did neither abide

As two elves set the night ablaze

A battle distinct even through haze

A night that seemed quiet amd still

From Elden Root’s gloomy window sill

O pale luminescence!

Floating orb incandescent!

Show us a sight tonight

So we for centuries might

Sing aloud for centuries long

And dance to a glory song!

In Arenthia they first were seen

The illusionist’s thunderous sheen

As lighting to himself he summoned

And upon his foes a death command

But hold! Not tonight!

For with the archer of Bosmer legend

There never is no end

As spell after spell he fought back

As spell after spell he shot back

And now I saw Talasan

To avenge the great Niyuren

For centuries to be as the man

The one who avenged mighty Niyuren.

Stroke upon stroke hell upon him

Stroke upon stroke he lay upon him

As Angmar’s Rock burst into flame’

Upon Talasan’s sword only one name

As swiftly as fabled Bosmer of old

As swiftly may this tale be told

Talasan drew a poisoned balde

Into Norionil’s heart and slayed

The slayer of fallen heroes of Elden Root

That now lay in peace albeit in soot.

O pale luminescence!

Floating orb incandescent!

Show us a sight tonight

So we for centuries might

Sing aloud for centuries long

And dance to a glory song!
